I've never had that happen to me, but don't doubt what you say. Wise to stay out of site if you can when drinking after hours in public.

Hotel room with a carry-out from the local 7/11 is probably the best way to ensure you see the game.

Most modern TV's have a language button. I watched the last one on Channel 7 (I think) and got the evergreen Martin Tyler on it.

Not true, Mike. When I was out there last year, all bars and clubs had to be closed by 1am. If not the Police will close it for you.

I was in a pub in Bangkok watching the opening game of the Rugby World cup and the barmen was happy to remain open as long as people stayed inside. Some idiots ventured out, POPO saw it and kicked everyone out,

First day/night of Songkran so most every bar will still be open at 1 in the morning.

If you want to watch the game in peace though, try and find a bar/hotel towards the edge of the stoopid-tourist areas - and, if you MUST take your phone with you, wrap it in at least a dozen plastic bags - or condoms.

Fart - It's 1am and it's on local tv (channel 7) so will probably only get Thai commentary. As for bars, you will have many to choose from.

Any decent hotel room will have a TV that shows the game.
